If they are to perform the famous vampire dance, they must find a substitute in a hurry. An ad in the newspaper prompts a number of hopeful applicants to come to the theatre, and Sylvia is quick to make her decision: she chooses Oscar, a taciturn but handsome young man.

Count Dörner and his son-in-law Baron Max are hunting in the forest when they come upon Zambo and Satanita, who are Roma travellers. Dörner and Max are so captivated by the eccentric Satanita that they decide to take her to their estate. It quickly becomes clear that Satanita prefers the young baron to the old count, although the latter still makes a spirited attempt to force some affection from her.

Jim, a robber, is in love with the chief’s bride Clara, who firmly rejects his many advances. In revenge, he snitches on the entire gang of robbers to the police, who immediately imprison the chief and his men. Clara kills the treacherous Jim and sets out to free her lover from prison.
