Filmens Vovehals

Ubekendt, 1923

'Daredevil of the movies' is a promotion reel compiled of film extracts showing some of actress and aerial artist Emilie Sannom's most daring stunts. She is seen crawling on windmills and church towers, balancing barefoot on sharp spears and parachuting out of an airplane.

The film was undoubtedly compiled to to show the skill and courage of Emilie Sannom, which gave her the nick-name 'Daredevil of the movies'.

A wealthy estate-owner travels to Copenhagen to experience what life is like in the city. Once there, he happens upon the beautiful young Clara and her brother, who take him to various pubs, to the Copenhagen Zoo, the airport and Tivoli Gardens. However, it comes to light that Charles is not Clara’s brother, but rather her fiancé, and that they are two of the city’s most notorious con-artists.

But help is on its way: Her assistant ties a string with a piece of coal and paper to a snake's tale and sends the glistening predator up the drainpipe to the prison window. The Daughter of Darkness informs her helper about the time and place for her imminent transferral to another prison, and when the plans work out, the underground mastermind is off to new adventures.

A baby’s christening turns into a nightmare when Baron and Baroness von Wilhjelm’s young son is kidnapped by travellers. Mother and son are reunited after 20 years apart, when the band of travellers sets up camp at the very same estate where the Baroness resides. Raphael, as he is now named, has become a handsome young man, whom women swoon over.

Magda, a piano teacher, meets Knud, a parson’s son, who invites her to spend the summer at his parents’ parsonage. When a travelling circus stops in the village, Magda leaves the meek Knud for the dashing circus rider Rudolf. But circus life with Rudolf quickly turns out to be anything but happy, and Magda comes to a tragic end.

FRAGMENT | Using motifs from the classic Adam Oehlenschläger poem, the legend of the Golden Horns is told across four different epochs. The discovery of the first golden horn in 1639, the discovery of the second golden horn in 1734, the theft of the golden horns in 1802, and the saga of the golden horns in contemporary times. Emilie Sannom and Emanuel Gregers star in all four episodes, playing a young couple fighting to be together.
