FRAGMENT | When it’s discovered that Fanny, a poor cigar worker, is frequenting the quarters of the manufacturer’s rich son, she’s banished from both home and work. All hope seems to be lost for Fanny, but her luck turns when she’s hired as a cigar roller at a cigar shop – or that’s what she thinks. It quickly transpires that the “cigar shop” is merely a cover for shadier affairs.

Dörner and Max are so captivated by the eccentric Satanita that they decide to take her to their estate. It quickly becomes clear that Satanita prefers the young baron to the old count, although the latter still makes a spirited attempt to force some affection from her.

MOST WANTED | Betty Nansen was the greatest diva of Danish theatre at the time, and it was quite a feather in the cap for the Nordisk Film studio and its founder, Ole Olsen, when he landed a contract with her in 1913. However, Nansen never truly conquered the medium of film the way that a certain Asta Nielsen did; around this time, ‘Die Asta’ had just set out for Germany. 'For the Sake of A Man', in which Nansen plays alongside one of the greatest male Danish stars of the theatre, Poul Reumert, is among the now-lost Betty Nansen films.
