Unfortunately, the cheerful lieutenant turns out to be a drunkard, so the engagement is called off and Victor leaves for South America. When he returns a few years later, he has become an upstanding pillar of the community.

'From Siberia to Moscow' (1876) was August Bournonville’s last long ballet. It was inspired by an 1874 trip to Russia, where Bournonville met Marius Petipa and saw several of his ballets. The music was composed by Carl Christian Møller.

Nordisk Film gennem 30 Aar

Ubekendt, 1937

“30 Years of Nordisk Film” celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of Nordisk Film, featuring clips of the company’s major films from its first three decades. The first part consists of reportage films depicting important historical events such as the inauguration of King Frederik VIII in 1906 and Ellehammer’s first flight that same year. The rest of the film is a cavalcade of the greatest moments in Danish silent film history featuring the biggest stars of the time.

The family doctor Harmodi possesses hypnotic powers and has secretly taken control of Countess Judith’s mind. Precious jewellery has been going missing in the area lately, and Count Maximilian Coltenberg summons Detective Jurian Fox to prevent a theft of his jewels. Unfortunately, no measures can prevent an inside job, as the hypnotised countess has her own key to the safe.

The usurer Sintram lives and breathes for money and, for this very reason; he disinherits his charitable son Floridan. Embittered, Sintram buries his fortune in the forest and hides a will in a beech tree, with his estate left to anyone who finds it. This act is the only hard physical work the old usurer has done in his life and, ironically, the exhaustion kills him.

MOST WANTED | 'The Music-Hall Star' is one of the films for which Carl Th Dreyer wrote the script before he became a director. It is also the only title to feature the combination of Dreyer, who was to become Danish film’s greatest auteur, and Valdemar Psilander, the biggest star of Danish silent film.

Count de Croisset proposes to the feted danser Odette Blant. Hewill give her all his love, his fortune and his title – on one condition: She must leave the theatre forever. Odette accepts the offer, assuring herself that she will not miss dancing when she has become a countess.
