At the Sea Shore

Ole Olsen, 1909, 10 min
Nordisk Film’s founder and director, Ole Olsen, both wrote and directed the short reportage depicting life 'At the Sea Shore'. The only preserved version here is clipped together with 'The Life of Fishers in Scandinavia' from 1906, which is also written and directed by Olsen.

According to a letter dated 29 October 1909 (the day after the film’s Danish premiere) to Nordisk Film’s branch in Berlin, the film didn’t exactly sell like hotcakes: “The negative of 'By the Sea Shore' isn’t good, but since director Olsen himself shot the film, we’d like to release it.”
