Klarinetspilleren

FRAGMENT | A man looks around and sees a dog in a trashcan, after which his nose transforms into a clarinet that he plays for the dog.

The film was made by the popular Danish cartoonist Robert Storm Petersen, popularly known as ‘Storm P’, who created some of Denmark’s very first cartoons, among many other things. His distinctive humorous tone and style shine through in these short, early cartoons.

Tre smaa Mænd

Storm P is seen putting the finishing touches on a painting of his iconic ‘Three Little Men’ characters. The men come alive and exit through a door on the left side of the painting.

Robert Storm Petersen was a writer, actor, inventor and painter, and his distinctive, humorous tone and style was evident in everything he produced.

CLOC - Peter og Ping på fisketur

In this short film, Storm P.’s popular comic strip characters Peter and Ping advertise CLOC Liqueur. The friends are out fishing when Peter reels in a large bottle of CLOC from the sea.

INCOMPLETE | In this small fragment from the cartoon A Wonderful Dream, a rotund man pines for delicious stuff. First, he watches enviously through a keyhole at a clown who’s holding a party. Then a naughty decanter of water on the table conjurs up thoughts of neat whiskey.

Efter hemmelig ordre eller den er pingeling

A short, fragmentary film comprising a brief animation sequence and live-action footage of Storm P in the Zoo. If one were to piece together a synopsis, it seems as if Storm P is given the task – by secret order – to draw the penguins in the Zoo. Using real penguins as models, he draws his well-known cartoon character Ping from the ‘Peter and Ping’, and the drawing is subsequently delivered to the person who commissioned it via a messenger dog.

A strangely surreal short animated film by the beloved multi-talented artist Storm P. The film begins with live-action footage of Storm P. standing in front of a canvas where his familiar characters, the Three Little Men, come to life and walk out of a door in the picture.

Mand drikker Kaffe

In this small film, prominent Danish artist, actor and cartoonist Storm P advertises CLOC Liqueur. An animated sequence also shows a man drinking coffee; he only starts smiling when the black gold is followed by a generous drop of liquor.

Two small films advertising the Copenhagen-based department store Magasin du Nord. The first presents a fashion show comprising what are presumably dresses from the store’s Model Salon. The second is a short film featuring Peter and Ping, two well-known characters created by cartoonist Storm P.

This animated film is an advertisement for the Danish weekly magazine ‘Hjemmet’, which is still published today. ‘Hjemmet’, meaning ‘Home’, was originally called ‘Damernes Blad’ (‘The Ladies’ Magazine’) but changed its name in 1904, a few years after it was acquired by the publishing company Egmont. The advertisement was drawn by the much beloved Danish multi-talent Robert Storm Petersen, popularly known as Storm P.

Two small commercials advertising the department store Magasin du Nord. The first is proclaimed to be ‘An amusing little film recorded by Nordisk Films Kompagni’ with the title ‘The Golden Dream’. Having seen a fashion show in Magasin du Nord, the lady of the house dreams of owning a dress from the store’s model salon.

Imagination runs wild in Storm P’s little animation about the man who gives his hen an iron tonic — resulting in a very hard egg and a ton of fun. The three little men laugh along.

Foryngelseskuren

A scientist has invented a serum that transforms the old into young and the old into new. His first subject – a very old man – gets a single injection and gradually turns into a baby. Meanwhile, three little men have stolen the syringe with the rejuvenation treatment, which they now give to men and livestock in dire need of it.
