One day, the gang has a fight, and while Clark is thrown out, Durkins and Ellis decide to run away and start a new, righteous life together.

In response, Mrs Søndergaard sends a lunch invitation to her husband as well as a birthday card to Storch.

Although the former criminal has become an old and good-natured man, he encounters only disgust and fear from those he meets. He seeks out his sister Anna and her family, but they want nothing to do with him.

The merchant Blomberg is out in the countryside with his daughters and housekeeper when the idyll is suddenly shattered. The daughters head off to have fun with two young guys from Copenhagen who are on a road trip, and the vagabonds Pat and Patachon seize the chance to interfere for their own gain.

The preserved material is the original Swedish version titled 'Landsvägsriddare', translated to 'Tyvepak' in Danish.

The young artist Simon Durand happens to find himself in an idyllic village. Here he finds board and lodging with Marietta, who lives alone with her sick mother, and soon Durand has won the heart of his young hostess. Their happy state is threatened by the wealthy farmer Jerome, who has been courting Marietta in vain for a long time and is not about to abandon his hopes of eventually marrying her.

That’s why it’s a bit of a punch in the stomach when, late one evening, he discovers his son Ove in close contact with her. Chamberlain von Plessen, who had been gossiping to Søtoft and is himself spying on the young couple, is going to set fire to the room they’re in.

Four soldiers are passing away time when one, looking through the window, spies a pretty girl sitting on a veranda on the opposite side of the street. Naturally, the cards are left, and the four are soon crowding the window, each vying for the girl's attention, much to her amusement. Even their officer, who enters the room to scold them, is soon absorbed in making eyes at the charming creature.

The night before he is to begin his journey home from a foreign port, a ball is held on his ship, and he is seduced by an exotic woman. He ends up in her oriental house and loses track of time so his ship sails without him.
