Professor Petersens Plejebørn

Birdwatcher Professor Petersen goes on a summer trip to a remote rocky island. The uninhabited island is home to birds, disturbing scantily clad young girls and a gang of bootleggers. Pat Patachon reluctantly toil for the smugglers, who take Professor Petersen prisoner.

Old Lund is determined to make his granddaughter Lise/Liz a great dancer. He teaches dance classes in their attic home, accompanied by their neighbours, Pat and Patachon, playing the flute and violin. Joy fills the household when Lise secures an engagement at the Grand Theatre, but acquiring the expensive costumes she needs becomes a financial burden.

At full speed on the ice, the young scultptor and eager skater Erik Elmer meets a charming young lady, Ethel, who quite literally sweeps him off his feet. She is being deceived by her lawyer, who manages the inheritance from her father in America. The deceitful lawyer courts Ethel, who is soon to inherit her wealthy father’s fortune.

A cartoon version of HC Andersen’s famous fairy tale about the staunch tin soldier who falls in love with a dancing ballerina, sets out on an adventure, and is finally engulfed by the flames of love.

The film is full of funny scenes with living toys. It was both filmed and directed by Karl Wieghorst, who also produced several cartoons for Robert Storm Petersen, better known as Storm P.

Magda, a piano teacher, meets Knud, a parson’s son, who invites her to spend the summer at his parents’ parsonage. When a travelling circus stops in the village, Magda leaves the meek Knud for the dashing circus rider Rudolf. But circus life with Rudolf quickly turns out to be anything but happy, and Magda comes to a tragic end.

This is what Pat and Patachon learn in this adventure in which they rescue young girls from the white slave trade in Spain and where Patachon enters the ring as a boxer against a gigantic superman from France. The final scene features a surprise addition to the family.

One day, Irma’s household receives guests, and Solveig, an 18-year-old beauty, opens Aage’s eyes as to which love he’s about to sacrifice for the sake of his father.

Musical Magda has three suitors – the insidious bank clerk Hilmer, the kind-hearted Dr. Dyring and the nice supreme court attorney Hatting. Much to Dyring’s annoyance, Hatting is the first to pluck up the courage and propose, and Magda soon becomes Mrs.
