Viggo Larsen, 1907

Under Skæbnens Hjul

Holger-Madsen, 1914

MOST WANTED | Betty Nansen was the greatest diva of Danish theatre at the time, and it was quite a feather in the cap for the Nordisk Film studio and its founder, Ole Olsen, when he landed a contract with her in 1913. However, Nansen never truly conquered the medium of film the way that a certain Asta Nielsen did; around this time, ‘Die Asta’ had just set out for Germany. 'For the Sake of A Man', in which Nansen plays alongside one of the greatest male Danish stars of the theatre, Poul Reumert, is among the now-lost Betty Nansen films.

Peder Tordenskjold

Ernst Munkeboe, 1910

The film is based on the true story of the Danish-Norwegian sea hero Peter Wessel Tordenskiold’s exploits during the Great Northern War of 1709 to 1720. The action is composed of a number of significant events, such as the departure with the frigate Løvendals Galej in 1912, the Battle of Colberghejde in 1715, Tordenskiold’s elevation to nobility in 1916 and his death in 1920.
In addition, the director has built a love story around the photograph of a Miss Norris that Tordenskiold carried in his breast pocket when he died.

Fyrtøjet

Viggo Larsen, 1907

Viggo Larsen’s adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tale about the soldier who gets hold of a magic tinderbox capable of calling forth three dogs with big eyes that can fulfill all his wishes. When the soldier has one of the dogs transport a sleeping princess to his room, he is arrested and sentenced to death. But his adventure, as we know, does not end here.

Gunnar Robert Hansen, 1923

Friends Peder and Oluf are neighbours and meet regularly for a pint and a game of chess. In secret, Oluf casts a roving eye at his friend’s wife, Mette, who is clearly receptive to his charms. But he has no need to look for a wife, he tells Peder, who mocks him for being a bachelor.

Raske Riviera Rejsende

Lau Lauritzen Sr., 1924

The elderly Italian craftsman Guido and his granddaughter Mona run a plaster cast shop in a nordic city. Pat and Patachon serve as eager helpers, wholeheartedly dedicating themselves to the work. Among the shop’s customers is a young actor, Kaj Lynge, who spends all his money on plaster figurines just to visit Mona.
