The Mysterious Z-Rays

MOST WANTED | The film is also known as ‘The Skeleton Dance’ and ‘The Dance of Death’. The preserved still images do not reveal whether the film actually features a dancer lit up by X-rays to reveal the bones inside. How might one of Danish film’s most talented cinematographers of the time, George Schnéevoigt, have solved this technical challenge? Our curiosity is further piqued by the fact that he was also the director and screenwriter on this film, and we would love to see the result.
The Adventures of Japhet III

Japhet and Tim have hired a ship bound for the Portuguese port city of Pontevidera, where Japhet hopes to find his father. His tireless search once again turns into an adventurous and dangerous journey. The two friends must fight both Portuguese criminal gangs and South American Indians, and when they finally return to London, Japhet is convicted of a murder he never committed.
The Soul of the Violin

A young violinist, Emanuel, dreams of becoming the best in the world. He gets the full support of his mother, who has sacrificed everything for his brilliant career. When she is on her deathbed, he’s faced with a terrible choice: According to an old legend, his violin will have the most beautiful sound if it catches the dying mother’s last breath.
Count Dahlborg’s Secret

FRAGMENT | These recordings were part of Valdemar Psilander’s live performance at the Royal Orfeum in Budapest, in February and March 1914. Psilander financed the show himself, and it was a mixture of film and theatre under the title Count Dahlborg’s Secret. The film footage, which unfortunately hasn’t been preserved in its entirety, opened the performance, after which Psilander himself rode onto the stage and continued the action.
The Candle and the Moth

The young hothead Billy is drifting into a life of crime and has a violent quarrel with his girlfriend Nelly. When the lay preacher John Redmond steps in to defend her, Billy is hit by a feeling of remorse. Redmond tells Billy his life's story and inspires him to turn his life around.

The honeymoon between the newly married couple Lydia and Count von Teyn soon comes to an end. The count makes his new wife jealous when he helps a female rider who makes obvious advances at him. Lydia has barely forgiven her husband before things go wrong again.
The Gambler's Wife

A past lover ignites a fiery gambling addiction within the reckless Prince Spinarosa. The old lover, Asta Leonhard, ensures that the prince acquires a royal gambling debt. Princess Spinarosa is a famous dancer in her own right and graciously offers her husband a piece of jewellery to cover his debt.
