The merchant Blomberg is out in the countryside with his daughters and housekeeper when the idyll is suddenly shattered. The daughters head off to have fun with two young guys from Copenhagen who are on a road trip, and the vagabonds Pat and Patachon seize the chance to interfere for their own gain.

The preserved material is the original Swedish version titled 'Landsvägsriddare', translated to 'Tyvepak' in Danish.

Peter and Inga regularly try to convince their bachelor friend Pingel of the many sterling benefits of marriage. Until, that is, an argument about housekeeping causes a rift in the young people’s marriage and Peter dramatically leaves home – determined never to return. Soon after, Inga’s uncle from America announces his arrival, and she persuades Pingel to pretend to be Peter, whom the uncle has been looking forward to meeting.

When Halfdan’s old flame, Karina, comes to town, the reaction of his jealous wife Märthe begins to concern him. But Halfdan has no clue that they’re in fact childhood friends, and the two women agree to keep Halfdan in the dark for a little while longer. When Märthe is on her way out of town, Halfdan sees an opportunity to replace his jealous wife with an actress in order to impress Karina.

ADVERTISEMENT | Ahead of a performance in Sweden on 27 April 1923, Pat and Patachon shot a short promotional film titled ‘We’re Coming Back’ with the subtitle in Swedish: ‘A little prelude to the joy of the coming evenings.’ Patachon makes a call from a phone booth in Sweden to one of the phone booths on Kongens Nytorv, in Copenhagen, where Pat happens to be, and the two agree to accept the invitation to spend Easter in Handen, a suburb of Stockholm.

The film has Swedish intertitles with Danish subtitles.
