After a series of failed stock market speculations, the banker Grant is on the verge of bankruptcy. To make matters worse, he has spent a large sum of money entrusted to him by an old friend, Werner, a factory owner. Despairing, he decides to take his own life, but his suicide attempt is interrupted at the last minute by his daughter Lilly.

Count Dörner and his son-in-law Baron Max are hunting in the forest when they come upon Zambo and Satanita, who are Roma travellers. Dörner and Max are so captivated by the eccentric Satanita that they decide to take her to their estate. It quickly becomes clear that Satanita prefers the young baron to the old count, although the latter still makes a spirited attempt to force some affection from her.

Brothers Robert and Hugo lead idyllic lives on a magnificent estate by the water. Their father, the old landowner, favours Robert, while Hugo is the apple of his mother’s eye. However, Hugo is not quite the goody two-shoes he appears to be: he has borrowed money from a crooked moneylender who is now threatening to contact his father.

It’s the spring of 1793 and the French Revolution is raging. King Louis XVI had been beheaded in Paris a few months earlier, and the whole of Europe is teetering on the brink of war. Austrian troops move across the country’s northern border, and among many other members of the French nobility who emigrated, Erneste des Tressailles also serves as an officer in the enemy ranks.

Professor Andrew Bobileff leads a quiet and withdrawn life with his daughter Anja. Then, out of the blue, he is accused of taking part in a conspiracy against the government. He proclaims his innocence, yet is imprisoned before the eyes of his daughter, who vows to exact a bloody revenge on the governor.

As King Cyril is away fighting at the front, Prime Minister Bouton holds the reins of power firmly in his stead. For a long time, Bouton has taken to Princess Elena who, on the other hand – and to Bouton’s great displeasure – falls in love with the prisoner of war, Captain Henri de Bersin. The love triangle drama reaches its climax when de Bersin asks the princess for help to escape and is then sentenced to death by Bouton.

Edgar Doran has lived all his life on his old, gloomy ancestral farm deep in the forest. On a visit to the big city, he meets – among an extravagant company of artists – the eccentric, beautiful Vera, who enchants him at first sight. Edgar’s strong feelings are reciprocated, the couple get married and move into his forest home together.

Students Lind and Beck are on a hiking trip in North Zealand. They enjoy the summer sun, eat apples by the roadside and soon come across the idyllic estate Sølyst, where they fall in love with the estate owner’s two beautiful daughters. Soon, however, dark clouds loom on the horizon: the simple-minded farmer they gave a shilling on the way is in fact an escaped criminal named Black Carl, and he has sinister plans.

On a holiday, the family Gram meets a young, mysterious man who turns out to be a mormon. In spite of her fiancèes presence, the daughter Nina is drawn to the stranger. Hypnotized, she soon follows his every step.

By coincidence, Pat and Patachon are cast for the lead roles in a major film production. It quickly turns out that the odd couple doesn't fit in to just any plot, and especially Patachon's helpless attempts to play prince charming are testing the director's patience.

Himmelskibet

Inspired by Columbus, the navy officer Avanti Planetaros endeavours to chart the cosmos and explore its strange planets. His spaceship lands on Mars, where Avanti and his crew meet a peace-loving, fruit-eating, gentle people who surely have a thing or two to teach the earthlings.

The film has English intertitles and music by Ronen Thalmay.
