The bank guard and the director hear mysterious sounds coming from the basement vault, where all the gold is kept, and call in Master detective Pat Corner. Studying a floor plan, Corner quickly discovers a tunnel leading directly into the vault from a nearby pub. The tunnel ends in an old barn where an blind beggar often sleeps.

Instead of reporting the crook to the police, the benevolent boy buys him a hearty meal, convinces him to give up drinking and helps him back onto the right path in life. Soon enough the beggar has a job, money and a roof over his head.

Elverhøj (1828; literal translation, Elves’ Hill) by Johan Ludvig Heiberg, with music by Frederik Kuhlau, is considered the Danish national play. It was commissioned by King Frederik VI for the marriage of his youngest daughter Vilhelmine Marie to Frederik Carl Christian (later King Frederik VII).

The plan is put into action, but Bims has more regrets coming! It turns out that his newly discovered superpowers are even stronger than he himself had dared to hope.
